Our Story
We’re Alexey and Lana — a husband and wife who fell in love with tea long before we ever thought about building a tea company.
We live in the same world you do. Fast. Loud. Constantly switched on. Too much information, too many notifications, too many reasons to rush through the day without really noticing it.
Tea became the ritual we kept coming back to.
Not because it was trendy. Not because we needed another wellness product. Because making tea changes the pace of a moment.
Hot water. Whole leaves. A few quiet minutes.
You notice the aroma of the first pour. The way the leaves open. How the same tea can taste different from one steep to the next. Floral at first. Deeper later. Softer, sweeter, sometimes completely unexpected.
It asks for attention without demanding much in return.
And that became the idea behind Mojo Tea Co.
WHY GABA OOLONG?
GABA oolong was one of the teas that made us stop and pay attention.
It is real whole-leaf oolong tea made using a specialized oxygen-free processing method that naturally increases GABA in the tea leaves. The process changes the character of the tea while keeping what we love about oolong: aroma, depth, natural caffeine, layered flavor and the ability to be steeped again and again.
Some GABA oolongs are floral and bright. Others are honeyed, roasted, fruity or deep and mellow.
For us, that range is the point.
GABA tea isn’t a supplement disguised as tea. It isn’t a shortcut. It is tea made differently — rooted in traditional tea making, but especially relevant to the way people live now.
WHY WE STARTED MOJO TEA CO
We kept sharing tea with friends.
At home. At dinner. At gatherings. Sometimes instead of wine. Sometimes instead of another coffee.
And we kept seeing the same reaction.
People slowed down.
They asked questions. They noticed the leaves. They wanted another steep. Someone would eventually say:
“I didn’t know tea could taste like this.”
That stayed with us.
Because good tea doesn’t need to be complicated or ceremonial to matter. You don’t need special knowledge. You don’t need a perfect teapot. You just need good leaves, hot water and enough curiosity to taste the difference.
We wanted to build a tea shop for people who are interested in real tea but don’t want the stiffness that sometimes comes with tea culture.
No gatekeeping. No fake mysticism. No wellness theater.
Just whole-leaf tea with character.
WHAT WE SOURCE
Mojo Tea Co focuses on whole-leaf teas from China and Taiwan, including GABA oolong, traditional oolong, pu-erh, black tea and red tea.
We look for teas with clear character — teas that are worth slowing down for.
Aromatic leaves. Interesting processing. Good texture. Flavor that develops across multiple steeps.
Some are easy and immediately familiar. Others take a little longer to understand.
That’s part of the fun.
TEA FOR REAL LIFE
We don’t believe tea has to happen in a perfectly quiet room.
Drink it at your desk.
Take it outside.
Make it before a workout, after dinner, during a long conversation or in the middle of a chaotic day.
Use a gaiwan. Use a mug. Use whatever gets you drinking better tea.
The ritual can be simple.
The tea should still be good.
